Description du poste

We’re looking for a new business specialist / strategic partnership manager who can help grow our revenue and build meaningful collaborations.

You’ll be the driving force behind building strategic, mission-aligned partnerships that support our journalism and expand our impact. From organisations working on EU affairs to those reaching European audiences, you’ll connect with partners who believe in what we do.

Working closely with our head of strategic partnerships, you’ll take the lead across the full partnership journey: identifying opportunities, crafting pitches, closing deals, and fostering long-term collaborations that serve both our readers and our partners.

Your key responsibilities

  • Drive new revenue: Build and manage your own pipeline, from first outreach to signed agreement. Identify, approach, and convert new partners – especially in the EU affairs space, the wider European advertising market, and civil society.

  • Pitch to win: Craft sharp, tailored proposals for campaigns, partnerships, and custom content that match partner goals with the right mix of campaigns, ads, and content production.

  • Close deals: Lead negotiations, handle objections, and bring opportunities over the line.

  • Collaborate to deliver: Work closely with the implementation lead to ensure partnerships are smoothly executed and campaigns land as promised.

  • Activate your network: Use your existing relationships to open doors and accelerate deals.

  • Build long-term value: Turn first deals into repeat partnerships and ongoing collaborations.

  • Represent TEC externally: Be a confident, credible face of The European Correspondent in conversations with senior stakeholders.

Profil recherché

At least three years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships – ideally in media, stakeholder management, or EU affairs.

A strong network of relevant contacts in the EU affairs, communications, or advocacy sectors.

Excellent communication, networking, and negotiation skills.

Highly motivated by targets and results, with a hands-on and solution-oriented mindset.

Self-organised and reliable – you’ll be working independently most of the time.

Fluent oral and written English.

Bonus points for
Experience working with the business side of media, NGOs, think tanks, or advocacy organisations in Europe.

A genuine interest in journalism, democracy, and Europe.

Contract and compensation
This is a freelance position with an attractive commission-based structure plus up to 1000 euro flat fee depending on time commitment.

Flexible hours and remote work options – we expect a minimum of 20 hours per week.

What we offer
Mission-driven, fast-growing organisation: Work at the heart of Europe with a media organisation committed to independent, impactful journalism.

Flexible, remote-friendly setup: Work with flexibility and trust built into how we operate.

Real ownership: You lead partnerships end-to-end, from first contact to signed deal to long-term relationship. This is your work to own, shape, and grow.
Work you can be proud of: Your work directly funds independent journalism.

Mission with integrity: We keep editorial and commercial work strictly separate, so you can sell with confidence and sleep well at night.

High trust, low bureaucracy: You’re trusted to think, decide, and execute without micromanagement.

Smart, international context: You’ll work with organisations across Europe that care about democracy, environment, policy and impact.

Room to build: If you like improving offers, sharpening pitches, and creating structure, you’ll have space to do it here.

Direct access to leadership: You’ll work closely with the head of strategic partnerships, with fast feedback and short decision loops.

Visible impact: You’ll see your partnerships go live; in newsletters, on social, and in journalism read across Europe.

A team that cares: Curious, kind, ambitious people working on a joint mission of strengthening independent, European journalism
